Guide to the Best Ski Runs at Jackson Hole

Snowboarder at Jackson Hole

If you’re staying with us in Jackson Hole for a ski vacation, you’re in for a wonderful mountain getaway. With 4,139 feet of vertical, seamless lift access, and terrain that feels welcoming to beginners yet inspiring for seasoned skiers, the resort makes it simple for everyone in your group to find their rhythm. Off the hill, Teton Village and downtown Jackson add all the extras—chef-driven dining, firelit lounges, spas, galleries, and that charming Town Square—plus winter favorites like wildlife tours and scenic tram rides for big views. Skiing at a resort for the first time can be intimidating, so we’ve put together a guide to some of the best runs on Jackson Hole based on ability. We’ve also included suggestions for cozy mid-mountain pauses—think waffles at Corbet’s Cabin or a glass of wine at Piste—so your days feel as effortless as they are memorable.

Green Ski Runs – Confidence Builders

About 10% of Jackson Hole’s terrain is rated Beginner / Green.

  • Eagle’s Rest – Dedicated beginner zone at the base with its own chair; wide, gentle, and perfect for first turns.

  • Pooh Bear – Hop off the Sweetwater Gondola at mid-station for this mellow cruiser near Solitude Station—great progression terrain.

  • Lower Teewinot – The longest green on the hill; steady pitch for working on rhythm without surprises.

  • Lower Werner – Another forgiving lap off Teewinot; smooth, confidence-boosting gradients.

  • Antelope Flats – Easy, scenic, and a nice step-up once you’re linking turns.

Local tip: If you’re new to the resort, stick to Teewinot and Eagle’s Rest chairs and the Sweetwater mid-station—everything there is green.

Blue Ski Runs – Long, Scenic Cruisers

About 40% of Jackson Hole’s terrain is rated Intermediate / Blue

  • Gros Ventre – Signature top-to-bottom cruiser; the upper pitch is stiffer (often marked double-blue), then it softens into a dreamy glide.

  • Amphitheater – Classic Jackson blue with big views and frequent grooming.

  • Sundance – Follows the gondola line; a thigh-burner when groomed and a favorite “one more lap” run.

  • Rendezvous Trail (“R-Trail”) – Rare blue off Sublette; advanced intermediates love it for the high-alpine feel without going full expert.

Where to lap: The Teton Lift will take you to Crags Run, one of our favorite blue runs on the mountain! The Bridger Gondola, Casper, and Après Vous chairs deliver a buffet of blue terrain with fast access and big views.

Black Ski Runs – Steeps, Bowls, and Natural Halfpipes

About 50% of Jackson Hole’s terrain is rated Expert / Black – Double Black.

  • Laramie Bowl – A quintessential Jackson pitch from Thunder/Sublette—consistent fall line with options for groomed or bumps depending on the day.

  • Tensleep Bowl – Broad, high-alpine feel and a great gateway to exploring steeper zones.

  • Dick’s Ditch – A natural gully (and home to the resort’s banked slalom) that skis like a roller-coaster when conditions are right.

  • The Hobacks (North/Middle/South) – Long, leg-torching fall-line runs that feel delightfully off-the-grid on a powder day. For strong advanced skiers only.

Double Black Ski Runs – Iconic and Bucket-list Lines (Experts Only)

  • Corbet’s Couloir – The legend. A cornice drop (often ~10–20 feet) into a steep, narrow chute: assess carefully, or enjoy the show from the tram.

  • Paintbrush (also known as Toilet Bowl) – A Jackson classic of the Thunder; drops in steep and stays that way. Many locals link the lower pitch into Toilet Bowl for a spirited finish back to Thunder.
  • Tower Three Chute – Technical, sustained and a local favorite off Thunder; a perfect “next step” in the expert progression when conditions are soft.

  • Alta Chutes (1–3) – North-facing, chalky steeps with options for airs; demanding and addictive when they’re open.

  • Expert Chutes – Aptly named; complex entrances and serious pitch—save for your best snow day.

Refuel like a Local

Ski days hit different when you plan a proper pause—warm seats, big views, and something delicious in hand. When it’s time to recharge, these on-mountain favorites blend local flavor with just the right touch of indulgence.

  • Piste Mountain Bistro (top of Bridger Gondola) – Table-service lunch or a sunset dinner with floor-to-ceiling views—make a reservation and enjoy the ride up.

Corbet's Cabin waffles
  • Corbet’s Cabin (tram summit) – Enjoy Corbet’s famous waffles 10,450-foot—a rite of passage whether you’re dropping Corbet’s or simply snapping photos of it.

  • Casper Restaurant – Classic, cozy mid-mountain comfort food between blue and black laps.

Tips for a Successful First Day at Jackson Hole

  • Grab the trail map & check lift and trail status each morning—grooming, openings, and rating nuances (single vs. double blue) change how a run skis day-to-day.

  • Ski within your zone and step up gradually; Jackson’s blues and blacks often ski a bit spicier than other ski areas, so start easy and work your way up.

  • New to the mountain? Or maybe you’re feeling a bit rusty on skis? A lesson based out of Solitude Station is a fantastic, stress-free way to start.
